HERRICK, Clare E. – of Montrose, age 89, died Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Tendercare of Frankenmuth. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Pastor Dan Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Montrose Township Cemetery with Military Honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 11AM until 8PM and Tuesday from 12PM until the time of service at 2PM. Contributions may be made to the family.
Clare was born on October 5, 1924 in Clio, Michigan to the late Earnest and Mariel (Forman) Herrick. He married Betty Jane Loop on July 28, 1944 in Flushing, MI. Clare was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served during WWII. Mr. Herrick retired from Buick in 1978 with 34 years seniority. Clare was a member of the New Lothrop VFW # 6579 and a past member of the Montrose Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching sports- especially the Detroit Tigers, gardening, shuffle board and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are: wife, Betty Herrick; sons, Dennis Herrick of Harrison, Ron (Barb) Herrick of Florida; daughter, Pamela (Melvin) Crawford of Montrose; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister, Betty Hawkins; several nieces, nephews and many other loving family members and friends. Clare was preceded in death by: son, Keith Allen Herrick; 9 brothers and sisters and his fishing brother, Jerry Kramer.
