Kent Casner, of Flint, Michigan, age 59, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 19, 2022. Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Rossell Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Phillips will officiate. Burial to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his family.
Kent was born in Flint, Michigan on September 26, 1963 to Kenneth and Elaine (Hildreth) Casner. He graduated with honors from Flushing High School in 1981. He was a wrestler in high school, and right after graduation he began working for Channel 25 News. Kent eventually became a director for Channel 12 where he directed most of the evening newscasts. In his free time he was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed going up north to his family’s cottage and sitting by the campfire. Kent also enjoyed golfing and was a big fan of the Detroit Lions.
He is survived by his mother, Elaine Casner; brothers, Kirk Casner and Kyle (Rachel) Casner; nephew, Devon Casner; aunt and uncle, Truman (Marsha) Hildreth; many cousins, aunts, and uncles; and numerous friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Casner; grandparents, Odessa Casner and Truman Hildreth; and several aunts and uncles.
