Allen Ray Smith was born on August 28, 1959, in Flint, Michigan, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Troy and Lola (Eaton) Smith. Educated locally, Allen graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1977. Shortly after graduating, he went on to further his education and attended trade school, becoming gifted with his hands and fixing many different types of mechanical items. He took his skill and began working for General Motors in 1978 for over 40 years, only medically retiring a short while ago, after falling ill. He worked as a team leader, helping build his team to become powerful, dependent, and respected. He was a member of the UAW Local 598.

In his free time, Allen enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was an avid hunter, often traveling to Marion Springs, Gaylord, and other areas in Michigan. Additionally, he spent a substantial amount of time at the Kearsley Dam in Flint to fish, catching many different species. Allen and his family would frequently camp at Outdoor Adventures in Davison, spending time around a bonfire, or in the hot tub. When he wasn’t working, but wanted to keep busy, he would work on his car’s engines to keep occupied. He also loved riding his Harley motorcycle, collecting guns and watches, and spending time with his family.

Allen was well known for his capability and drive for helping others. If he could, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Carrie Hundley; his two children: Jayson and wife, Valerie VanLanduyt, and Valeen VanLanduyt; his grandchildren: Daniel, Samuel, Lola, Jayson, and Paige; his two nephews; as well as many cherished friends and coworkers.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents: Troy and Lola Smith; his two brothers: David Smith and Lee Smith; and his late wife, Janice.
