NASO, Santoro- Age 98, of Hudson, Florida, formerly of Swartz Creek, died February 18, 2017. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Friday February 24, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Entombment in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Thursday Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint with a scripture service at 7 PM. Visitation will also take place 9:30 AM until the time of mass Friday at the church.
Santoro was born October 10, 1918 in Trapini, Sicily the son of Vito and Josephine (Genova) Naso. He migrated to the United States in 1937. Santoro married Maria Sabella in Sicily on August 11, 1977. He was a crane operator for 13 years for Great Lakes Steel Co. He also owned Sandy's Pizzeria in Flint for fifteen years and owned S & S Cheese Company for eleven years. Santoro was a member of the Sons of Italy in Flint. He enjoyed gardening and watching the Detroit Tigers.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Maria; children, Josephine (Douglas) Bully, Pasqualina (Ronald) Miarka, Rosemary (Michael) Howay, Anna (David) Pras, and Vito Naso; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren.
Santoro was preceded in death by his first wife, Pierina Naso in 1976; brothers Vincent and Paul; sister, Anita; his great great grandson.
