BURTON, Donald Wayne - of Mt. Morris, age 78, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, January 5, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 1PM Monday, January 12, 2026, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Jesse England officiating. Burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM.
Don was born on November 10, 1947, in Cadillac, Michigan, to the late James and Mina (Thompson) Burton. He had a heart of gold and was known for his kind and selfless acts. Don graduated from Kearsley High School and worked at GM until his retirement. He served honorably in the U.S. Army, but most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Lovingly referred to by his family as “Bapa” and “The Don,” he could often be found tinkering and puttering around. Don loved doing yard work and working on different engines and vacuums. He enjoyed puzzles of all varieties, and was an avid lover of all things planes and flying.
Don was known as the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to keep someone else warm. He had a truly compassionate heart of gold and never hesitated to help those in need, even at his own expense. Don was loved by all who knew him and will forever be remembered for his loving and giving heart.
Surviving are: Daughter, Becky (Brian) Rider; Grandchildren: Amber Burton, Taylor Burton, Andrew Huey, Scott Ragan, Brittney Storey, Joe McAuliffe, and Brystal Baldwin; Great grandchildren: Brooke Burton, and Kasen Donald Burton; Brothers: Jerry Burton and Keith Burton.
