MORRIS, Donald L. Sr. - of Clio, age 80 passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Ascension Genesys Hospital of Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held Thursday October 15, 2020 from 2-8PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. A Graveside services will be held Friday October 16, 2020 at 1PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Clio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Donald was born March 7, 1940 in Flint, Michigan to the late Daughtless and Ellen (Hoskins) Morris. He has resided in the Clio area since 1942 where he attended the Diamond School. On May 5, 1962 he married Dora A. Lewis. She preceded him in death on November 20, 1997. After Dora’s death he has had his best friend Donna Nieman by his side. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army. He went on to work for General Motors, and worked for 36 years, retiring in 2003. He had been a member of Pine Run Church of Christ where he served as an elder for many years. He loved hunting, fishing and farming. He was a collector of Old Farmall Tractors and had been a member of MMAMA, Mid-Michigan Antique Machinery Association. But most of all he loved to drive his family crazy.
Donald is survived by; his “wife” and friend, Donna; children, Don (Gwen) Morris Jr. and Caroline Ames; grandchildren Anthony (Katherine) Ames, Dannielle (Matthew) Vieau, Doralee Morris and Donald Morris III; great grandchildren, the apple of his eye Abby Vieau and Brandi Ames; Don was also a father figure to Michael S. Ames. He is preceded in death by his wife Dora, son Daughtless Morris, daughter Annette Sidner and his parents Daughtless and Ellen.
