Holton, Ruth of Flushing, age 87, died Sunday, May 13, 2018, at her home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Flushing. Rev. Kenneth Sharp will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the time of the service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Flushing.
Ruth was born in Flint, Michigan on December 26, 1930, the daughter of the late Oren and Caroline (Gough) Alger. She married Ernest Cobb on September 29, 1951 and he preceded her in death on July 8, 1991. She later married Ray Holton, who also preceded her in death. During the Korean War when her husband was stationed in Japan, Ruth worked at AC Spark Plug and was member of UAW Local 651. Ruth was an active and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Flushing. Together with her first husband, they enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Texas and later enjoyed spending winters in Florida. Ruth loved music and playing the organ and also enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her four children, Karen Gebhardt of Largo, Florida, David and wife Gloria Cobb of Suttons Bay, Michigan, Michael Cobb of Flushing, Michele and husband Ken Blair of Flushing; grandchildren, Jason Griesa, Kimberly Wolfgang, Jessica Cobb, Aubrey (Marty) Rodriguez, Mandy Blair, Cory Blair; three great-grandchildren; and siblings, Betty Morgan, Carol and Chuck Elliott, Mary and Ed Dorin, Margaret and Dan King. |
