VILLARREAL, Maria - Of Flint, age 86, went home to be with her husband and the Lord, Thursday, October 7, 2021 at her residence.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, MI,
Father Steve Anderson officiating.
Visitation 12-7pm Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed 7pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 10am Thursday at church until the time of the Mass.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Outreach Lunch Community at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Maria was born in Seguin, Texas on July 22, 1935, the daughter of the late Antonio and Estella (Alvarez) Rodriquez. On March 10, 1951, she married Urbano Villarreal and he preceded her in death in 2006. Maria and Urbano owned and operated El Charrito Restaurant in Flint for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Maria enjoyed going to the casinos, cooking and spending time with her family.
Surviving are children, Jose (Mary) Villarreal of Flint, Antonio (Gloria) Villarreal of San Antonio TX and Helen Villarreal of Kileen TX;
grandchildren, Monica (Robert) Reed, Mellia (Arthur) Herrera, Brianna (David) Mosier, Mariah Villarreal, Aria Villarreal, Javan (Tiffany) Tijerina, Marisa Villarreal, Marcelina Villarreal, and Antonio Villarreal Jr.;
many great and great-great-grandchildren;
siblings, Refugio (Maria) Rodriquez, Frances (Joe) Hernandez, Felicita (Nick) Gonzales, Dolores Mendez and Adellia Rosas.
She was also preceded in death by grandsons, Joe “Chano” Tijerina, Jonas “Jay” Tijerina; great-great-grandson, Francisco Espinoza Villarreal; brothers, Serveriano Rodriquez, Antonio Rodriquez, and sister, Juanita Trevino.
