Mark Stephen Decker

Born: 3/2/1968
Died: 9/10/2026
Age: 58
Community: Durand , MI

Mark Stephen Decker, age 58, of Durand, passed away on September 10, 2026, at Memorial Healthcare after a hard fought battle with cancer.

He was born on March 2, 1968, in Lansing, Michigan, to Roy George Decker and Carolyn Anne Nanasy. Mark grew up surrounded by the love of his family and carried those early connections with him throughout his life. He was known by those who loved him as a friendly, intelligent, and adventurous man whose presence brought warmth and steadiness to the people around him.

Mark graduated from Morrice High School and went on to spend his life working as a machinist, a trade in which he took great pride. He dedicated 20 years to ADS in Owosso and 25 years to Dart Container in Mason, where his strong work ethic, skill, and dependable nature were deeply valued. His hands were always busy, and his mind was always ready to solve a problem or improve something that needed attention.

Outside of work, Mark found joy in simple and meaningful pursuits. He loved drawing, especially birds, and his creativity showed in the detail. He also enjoyed cooking and took pleasure in preparing meals for the people he cared about. Mark was happiest when he was on the water, whether he was fishing, kayaking, or spending time on the boat. He would fish year round, and the water was one of the places where he felt most at peace.

Mark’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his wife, Vanessa; his daughter, Marilynn Brooks and her husband, Kam; and his granddaughter, Raegan, who brought him great happiness. He is also survived by his brothers, Errikk Decker and his wife, Michelle, and Luke Decker and his wife, Jerri; and his nephews, Kolton, Dyllon, Dalton, AJ, and Nolan. He is further survived by his parents, Roy and Carolyn Decker. Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Those who knew Mark will remember his easy going-spirit, his intelligence, and his willingness to help whenever he could. He had a way of making others feel comfortable and valued, and his adventurous nature often inspired those around him to enjoy life more fully. Whether he was working with his hands, sharing a meal, spending time outdoors, or simply being with family, Mark lived in a way that reflected his love for the people and places that mattered most to him.
