HUGHES, Margaret “Becky”– of Davison, age 82, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at Charter Senior Living of Davison surrounded by her loving family. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM on Friday, March 13, 2026, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 5073 Daly Blvd., Flint, MI 48506; Rev. Morgan Garrett and Rev. Jeffrey Frechette, Sr. co-officiating. Interment will be in Richfield Union Cemetery following the service. The family will welcome visitors from 4 – 7 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Friday at St. Mark Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church, in Margaret’s memory.
Becky was born in Colorado Springs, CO on June 14, 1943, daughter of the late Woodrow and Margaret (Swinehart) Gentzel. She met the love of her life at a dance in Colorado Springs. After a short courtship, she married Zane Hughes on February 2, 1968, and they spent the next 58 years making each other happy. Becky worked various jobs, most notably for Hewlett Packard and Comfort Care. She was affectionately known as “the card lady” because she loved sending cards for all occasions. Her greatest love was spending time with her beloved family.
Becky is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Zane Hughes; her cherished fur baby, Sunshine; two children, Dawn (Michael) Raymond and Cliff (Lisa) Hughes; three grandchildren, Ali (Jeremy Schermerhorn) Schaibly, Liz (Christopher) Mills, Eino Hughes; five great-grandchildren, Wesley, Grayson, Levi, Sawyer, and Mabel; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by parents; two brothers, Bill and Woody Gentzel; one sister, Betty Gentzel; and a special aunt, Margaret Grant.
