LUCAS, Laverne ‘Luke” Bernard – of Mt. Morris, age 92, died Friday, June 6, 2025 at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at St Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning officiating. Burial in St. Mary Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Monday, June 9, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Michigan and at the church on Tuesday from 12:30 until time of mass. Memorial contributions can be made to Autism Speaks.
Luke was born January 14, 1933 in Bearsley, Minnesota to the late Michael and Christa (Gauer) Lucas. He grew up in Beardsley, Minnesota before graduating from Soap Lake High School with the class of 1950. Luke proudly served his country in the US Army in the Korean War. Prior to his retirement in 1984, Luke worked for Buick on the line with 28 years of service. While working for Buick he also poured concrete for Foryic Concrete for several years. He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church and the Davison VFW Post # 4087. Luke was a hardworking man that always had two jobs so he could take care of his family. He enjoyed building houses, taking care of his lawn, hunting, and fishing. However, his greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are: Wife of 70 years, Betty Ann Lucas; Children, Teresa Lucas, Mike (Rena) Lucas, David Lucas, Christa (Joe) Lafuente; Special Nephew, Gordon (Ernie) Hudson; Grandchildren, Randy Quinn, Renee Owens, Joseph Lucas, Debra Lucas, Dana (Matt) Olson, Diane Lucas, Alex Lafuente, Chase Lafuente, Lucas Hudson; Great Grandchildren, Briahna Owens, Samantha Owens, Beck Wilson, Lucas Olson, Emory Olson; Brother, Duane (Pat) Lucas; several nieces and nephews.
