Christopher Arthur Josling, known to many as Chris, passed away on August 1, 2026, in Durand, Michigan, at the age of 68.
Chris was born on July 25, 1958, in Flint, Michigan, to Joseph and Mary (Patson) Josling. He lived a life marked by devotion to family, steady hard work, and a generous spirit that touched the lives of many who knew him. He was a loving son, father, brother, grandfather, and companion, and he will be remembered for the kindness and reliability he brought to every part of his life.
Chris graduated from Linden High School with the class of 1976 and later took a couple of additional classes as he continued to learn and grow. He went on to build a long and dedicated career with General Motors, where he worked for more than 30 years. During that time, he served both as a material handler and as a semi-truck driver. He took pride in his work and was known as someone who could be counted on to get the job done. His strong work ethic and practical skills reflected the dependable and handy nature that defined him.
Outside of work, Chris enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life meaningful to him. He loved the outdoors and found peace in fishing. He also enjoyed working on cars and collecting them, a hobby that suited his hands-on nature and lifelong appreciation for things built with care and craftsmanship. Around the house, he spent time tending to his flower beds, where he found satisfaction in keeping things neat and growing. These interests brought him joy and gave him many opportunities to share time and conversation with others.
Chris was always there for others. He was the kind of person who showed up when needed, offered help without hesitation, and gave his time and care freely. He was loving and hardworking, and those qualities were evident in the way he lived each day. Family and friends knew him as someone who could be trusted, someone who cared deeply, and someone whose presence brought comfort and strength. He will be remembered for his warm heart, his steady nature, and the many ways he supported the people around him.
He is survived by his son, Andrew (Julie Luke) Josling; his daughter, Lisa (Joseph Finn) Josling; their mother, Debbie Josling; Chris' mother, Mary Josling; his significant other, Rebecca Ellithorpe; his two granddaughters, Emma Josling and Emmaline Matheson; his brother-in-law, Alan Johnston; his nephew, Trevor Johnston; and his niece, Darcy Stephenson and her husband, Colin; 2 great nieces: MaKenna and Lola Stephenson. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe; his sister, Cheri Johnston; and his granddaughter, McKinzi Pratt.
Chris’s life was one of devotion, perseverance, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and care for others that will continue to be felt by those who knew and loved him. His memory will be cherished always.
