Wood, Monica Marie - Age 80, Swartz Creek, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on December 23, 2025. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 am Friday, December 26, 2025 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church 4413 Morrish Rd., Swartz Creek with Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:30 am - 11:00 am Friday at the church where a rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Monica was born April 17, 1945 in Streator, Illinois. The daughter of John and Anne (Hamas) Yuhas. She married Ronald Edward Wood on May 30, 1970 in Wedron, IL. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage until his passing on July 18, 2019. Monica worked at her family’s grocery store in Illinois prior to meeting Ron and starting a family of their own. As a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, she was a devout Catholic who prayed the rosary daily. A pilgrimage to Medjugorje, Bosnia with Ron held deep meaning and a special place for her. She loved spending time with her family and grand-dog, Sadie, with her grandchildren holding a very special place in her heart. Monica’s warm smile, sincerity and joy could light up any room. She enjoyed sewing, baking, volunteering and will be greatly missed. Surviving are daughter Theresa Wood and fiance, John Laurie; son, Michael (Amy) Wood; grandchildren; Lucas, Mary Catherine, Sophia, and Caroline Wood; brother, Robert (Nancy) Yuhas of FL; sIster, Mary Jane (Jack) Spinazola of IL; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anne Yuhas; husband, Ronald Wood; son James Alan Wood; sister, Mary Louise Yuhas.
