Childs, Harry Leroy Jr. – Of Grand Blanc, age 80, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11am Tuesday April 15, 2025 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Dr. Max B. Hayden officiating.
Visitation 4-8 pm Monday and 10am Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Special Olympics, Easter Seals or St. Jude.
Harry was born Nov 7, 1944, in Flint, Mich. to Harry and Betty (Bronson) Childs. He had three siblings Gerald Childs, Judith Hampton and Diane Masters. He had 4 children with Pam Mascio: Rodney Childs, Tamara (Steven) Clear, Jolene Childs, and Danny (Kristin) Childs. Harry married Donna Savage in October 1991and became a loving stepdad to Jessica Savage. Harry was raised in Rankin, Mich. and worked 30 years for the Grand Trunk/Canadian National Railroad as a yard conductor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. The annual family hunting trips to Vanderbilt, MI. held a special place in his heart. He was very particular about his lawn and enjoyed many hours making sure his and his neighbor's yards were looking great. He was a very generous and caring man, his family was very important to him, and he cherished the times with them.
He is survived by wife, Donna Childs, brother, Gerald Childs, his children Rodney, Tamara, Jolene and Danny, son-in-law Jimmie Mascio, grandchildren Gregory, Amber, Nathinel, Ariana, Logan Childs, James Mascio, Jasmine Stecher, and Austin and Garett Woods. He has three great grandchildren, Nyvaeh and Hanydiah Morris, Dandri Brown; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother Harry and Betty Childs, sisters Judith Hampton and Diane Master, sister-in law Diane Childs and stepdaughter Jessica Savage.
