Michael “Mike” Rumisek, 66, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, December 12, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at his home. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him during this time.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St, Joseph Catholic Church at 11am Saturday December 19, 2015 with Father George Puthenpeedika officiating. Burial will follow at Easton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson- House Funeral Home on Friday December 18 from 2 to 8pm and at the Church on Saturday from 10am until time of service. Rosary will be held at 7pm on Friday
He graduated from Chesaning Union High School in the class of 1968. He participated in football, basketball, and track. He was a member of the undefeated 1967 football team. He attended Central Michigan University where he earned bachelors and master’s degree. He saw the need to be highly qualified and earned a second master’s degree from Michigan State University.
Mike worked at Corunna Public Schools for 43 years. He enjoyed the children and the opportunity to further their education. He was involved in photographs and videos of school activities.
A love for farming was instilled in Mike by his parents and grandparents. He enjoyed the hours that he worked on the family homestead with his uncle Matt (Miroslav) and his grandfather George. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his father, Emil, brother, George, and Uncle Matt. He enjoyed spending time at the cabin at Higgins Lake.
He was a Boy Scouts of America troop leader and merit badge counselor. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow Brotherhood and the Knights of Columbus. Mike was actively involved in the establishment of the Twin Township Ambulance base where he also worked as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician for many years.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Theresa, and four children, Daniel (Alecia) Rumisek, Christopher Rumisek, Jeffrey (Sara) Rumisek, JulieAnne Rumisek and fiancée Rob Karbassi. He has been blessed with seven grandchildren, Seth, Zane, Tesa, Beka, and James Rumisek. Jaedyn and Caleb Michael Karbassi. An eighth grandchildren will arrive in the next few days. He was looking forward to her arrival. Also surviving Michael are his parents, Emil and Lottie Rumisek and siblings and their families, George (Jean) Rumisek, Janis (Steve) Jarrad, Cathy (Bob) Zajdlik. He was predeceased by a niece Jessica Zajdlik. He is also survived by the Oginsky families.
Memorial contributions are suggested to masses at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
