HELTON, Paul S. - Of Flint, age 63, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.
Paul was born in Flint on July 29, 1955, to James and Anna Helton. He recently moved to a new home in Flint with the love of his life, JoAnn Smith. Paul worked as an assembly line worker for GM/Flint Assembly for 6 years. He loved fishing, camping, hunting, and all outdoor activities.
Paul is survived by his partner of 40 years, JoAnn Smith;
his beloved pets, Isabella and Wesley;
siblings, Janet Pennell, Ricky L. Helton (Lucy), Jayne A. Jacot (Matt), James R. Smith Jr. (Laurie), Jeffrey L. Smith (Colette), Mother-in-law, Suzanne G. Smith, and many nieces and nephews.
Paul had a special place in his heart for nieces Courtney and Taylor Smith, and nephews Ricky L. Helton (Wendy), William Helton (Rachel) and Zachary Smith (Allison).
The family of Paul wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the nurses in the Acute Care unit on the second floor at McLaren-Flint. Paul also had a special affinity for the nurses at Karmanos Cancer Center chemo unit. His family would also like to thank Plante Moran for all of their love and support.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, James and Anna Helton and sister, Susan Abshier.
A memorial service will be held 11am Friday, August 3, 2018 at the UAW Local #598 Union Hall, G-3293 Van Slyke Road, Flint, MI with a luncheon following.
