BEREZNY, Stella Nellie- Of Flint, Beloved wife, mother, grandma (Baba) and great Baba, very dear and kind hearted woman, full of advice and love to give. Age 85, died Saturday, August 23, 2014.
Stella was born in Smooth Rock Falls, Canada on December 11, 1928 and became a US citizen in 1952, when she became the wife of her husband, Michael Berezny.
She lived in Flint prior to moving to Flushing in 1985. She married Michael Berezny on November 1, 1952 in Toronto Canada and was married for 60 years prior to his death, May 1, 2013.
Mrs. Berezny will rest at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
A Parastas Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.
The Funeral Divine Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, 2333 N. Elms Rd, in Flushing, celebrant Father David A. Hannes, pastor.
The burial will take place at St. Michael Byzantine Cemetery following the Liturgy.
She was a member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church and St. Michael’s Women Apostolate and the Greek Catholic Union.
Stella worked for Sversko’s Market and Woolco Department Store before retiring in 1985, and also for the Temple Dining Room, in Flint, MI.
Stella enjoyed cooking, baking and babysitting her grandchildren and watching them play sports and attending their events. Spending time with her family was very important to her and was her life.
She leaves to cherish, surviving are son, Daniel and wife Lynn Berezny of Flint;
daughter, Patricia Berezny-Bozoki of Fenton;
three grandchildren, Sarah and husband Jason Massey of Phoenix, AZ,
Stephanie Bozoki of San Diego, CA,
Michael and wife Erica Berezny of Royal Oak, MI;
two great-grandsons, Kaleb Robert Massey and Jaden Cole Massey of Phoenix, AZ; several nieces and nephews; the Vincinia Gardens Staff of Fenton, MI.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael of 60 years of marriage; parents, Karl and Mary Panagapka of Toronto Canada; sister, Jennie Kowalchuk of Missassauga, Ontario Canada and brother, Carl Panagapka of Erin Ontario, Canada.
Those desiring may make contributions to St. Michael Byzantine Cemetery or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Stella will be sadly missed by those who knew her and loved her. Many special thanks for the loving care she received from Vicinia Gardens Staff of Fenton, MI; Laura Wilkerson, NP, Dr. Mark Wilkerson, The Medical Team Hospice, Dr. Myriam Edwards-Miller and Staff, and Hurley Medical Center Staff.
