Bill (Willis) J. Cummings of Davison, age 91, died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving family on Sunday September 21, 2014. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday September 25, 2014 at the Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison, a luncheon will follow at the Davison VFW Post at 3:00 pm. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 11:00 am Thursday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in Bill’s memory to Operation Injured Soldiers at www.injuredsoldiers.org/donate/ or the Davison VFW. Bill was born in St. Paul MInn. On March 15, 1923 the son of Willis J. & Lola Cummings and had spent most of his life in the Davison area. He was joined in marriage to Liguori C. Mason of Mt. Morris in 1946 celebrating 68 years of marriage together. Answering the call of his country Bill served four years in the North African Corp Bomber Squadron during WW II. He was a life member of Davison VFW Post 4087, a member of Juniper Florida American Legion Post 271, and the Stuart Florida Elks Lodge. Bill was self-employed as a plumber, a retiree of GM and a State licensed condo manager in Florida. Besides his wife he leaves two children: son, Craig (Kathleen) Cummings, and daughter, Cathryn (Bob) McAley both of Lapeer, Grandchildren; Stacie (Jay) Fenslau, Shad (Lisa) McAley, Craig (Alicia) Cummings, Autumn (Dan) Hanson, Benjamin (Teresa) Cummings, Patrick Cummings (Chassity Stoneburgh), Colleen Cummings (Patrick Jaszczolt). He also leaves thirteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, numerous grateful family and friends in both Florida and Michigan. He is preceded in death by his brother Dennis Cummings, and sisters; Masie Gleason and Janenne Husted. Share your condolences at www.hansenfuneralhome.net |
