SMART, Ki Sun – Of Burton, age 77, died Friday, May 9, 2025 at Haven of Rest Hospice.
Funeral service will be held 2pm Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Visitation 12Noon Sunday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Ki Sun (You) Smart was born October 5, 1947 to loving parents in South Korea. During her early life in Korea she attended elementary school. She obtained her cosmetology certificate and worked in beauty salons after her mother’s passing. In 1977, she moved to Hawaii and met and made many friends during her 28 years living on Oahu. While in Hawaii, Ki Sun worked as a sales associate for a hotel boutique business. In 2003, she was set up by friends to meet her future husband, Larry Smart. In 2005, she moved to Michigan where she and Larry married in a civil ceremony. During their 20 years of marriage, they both enjoyed gardening together, attending churches, watching Korean tv shows together and shopping. Ki Sun really enjoyed making and sharing her Korean food with her family and friends. She made several trips back to Korea during her lifetime to visit her family and friends.
Ki Sun was predeceased in death by her mother, father, sister and brothers. She is survived by her husband, Larry Smart, many nieces and nephews as well as many Great nephews and nieces.
