Julia Mosher McKenna, age 67, of Davison (formerly a lifetime resident of Lapeer), passed away Thursday, November 13, 2025, surrounded by love.
Julia was born January 31, 1958, in Lapeer to Donald J. Mosher and Dorothy (Stock) Mosher. She graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1976. Julie went on to work as an administrative assistant for several federal judges. Her professional career spanned greater than 25 years, but her passion for civic engagement was lifelong. Upon “retirement” Julie was able to focus (even more) on her many passions, including: gardening, traveling with Pat, being active, volleyball officiating but most of all, spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren!
Julie’s faith was incredibly important to her – she was passionate about studying the written word of God and loved sharing the Word with others. She found joy in prayer, strength in scripture and peace in the promise of eternal life. Because of her faith in Jesus, she was full of kindness, compassion and vibrant joy.
Julia is survived by the love of her life, Patrick (“Mr. P”) McKenna; children: Matthew (Emily) Hotchkiss of Frankenmuth, Jessica Hotchkiss of Ypsilanti and Meredith (Kyle) VanKoevering of Columbus, OH; grandchildren: Hannah, Malichi, Samuel, Madeline, William, Mimi, Owen, Bennett, Levi, Joel and Walker; step-children: Shawn (Matt) Erickson of Chicago, Brad (Stephanie) McKenna of Atlanta, GA and Ryan (Alissia) McKenna of Davison; and her brother Mike (Ashley) Mosher of Lapeer. She was preceded in death by her parents: Donald J. Mosher and Dorothy Stock; and her stepfather, McAllister Stock.
Visitation/gathering was held Monday, November 17, 2025, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. A celebration of life in honor of Julia was held Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church, Lapeer. Pastor Tim Bashore will officiate.
