SMITH, Denise E. (Lengyel) - Of Flint, age 72, died Monday, September 21, 2026, at her residence.
Funeral service will be held 12pm Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Grand Blanc, G6106 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, MI.
Pastor Raleigh Adams officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation 2-8pm Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 11am Tuesday at church until the time of the service.
Denise was born in Flint, Michigan on June 14, 1954, the daughter of the late John and Maude Lengyel. She graduated from Grand Blanc High School, Class of 1972. Denise married Michael Smith on May 27, 1978. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Grand Blanc and attended Goodrich First Baptist Church for a couple years. She loved singing in the choir. Denise enjoyed taking care of her family and caring for special needs children. Denise was a loving mother and grandmother. For many years, Denise and her family spent a lot of time camping and visiting Cedar Point. She worked as a Para Pro educator for special needs children with the Swartz Creek School System and Terry Matlock Day Care Centers.

Son, Ryan and wife Nichole Smith;
Grandson, Reyes;
Brother, Dennis Lengyel;
Sister, Elaine (David) Thillen;
Brothers and sisters-in-law, Susan Crawford, Thomas E. and wife Linda Cain-Smith, Steven F. and wife, Carol Smith, Sally J. and husband Robert Slade;
Nieces and nephews, Jason and wife Jenny Lengyel, Heather Burke, Adam and wife Amanda Lengyel, Joey Lengyel, Nicholas Lengyel, Kristine and husband Steven Cornwell, Corinne Crawford, Thomas and wife Shelley Smith, Shelley and husband Tommy Reker and Wendy and husband Ryan Couch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, John “Butch” Lengyel Jr., sisters, Julie Lengyel, Marjorie Burke and Dolly DuFresne and niece, Tiffany Forley.
