ATHERTON, Richard Carl. – of Clio, Michigan and Islamorada, Florida, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. A graveside memorial will be held at 1PM Saturday, October 26, 2019 at West Vienna Cemetery in Clio. In memory of Richard, memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
Richard was born July 17, 1939 to the late Carl Marion and Elva “June” (Wright) Atherton. He was a very talented and skilled builder and built many houses throughout the Genesee County area. Richard also did many remodels and specialty woodwork while in Florida. He loved working and took pride in everything he built. Richard enjoyed watching Nascar, fishing, traveling and cars. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are: Loving wife, Bonnie Atherton; Daughters: Kim (Don) Atherton-Smith, and Kelly Atherton; Grandsons: Donny Richard Atherton-Smith, and Tony Michael Smith; Great grandsons: Devin, Dawson, Tony, and Elle Smith.
