Lapham, Diane Elaine (nee Byers), of Flushing, age 78, died Monday, November 17, 2025, at the Haven of Rest Hospice House in Owosso. Per her wishes, her body was donated to the University of Michigan Medical School. If you wish to donate in her memory, she was especially sympathetic to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization.
Diane was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 7, 1947, the daughter of Raymond and Virginia (Talbot) Byers. She was a graduate of Flushing High School, class of 1965. Diane married Richard Lapham and he preceded her in death. After spending time as a homemaker and mother, Diane went back to college and finished her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Michigan. She enjoyed her work as a Librarian very much and worked for the Shiawassee District Library. Diane was a gentle, caring person, always ready to help others. She had a fun sense of humor. Diane enjoyed games such as Cribbage and Dominos and liked doing crossword puzzles and reading, especially mysteries. Her family loved her very much and will miss her. Her son, Gary Lapham cared for her last years of her life.
Diane is survived by her son, Gary Lapham and wife Cheryl Wilson of Flushing; grandchildren, Nathan and wife Alyssa Wilson of Burton, Zoe Lapham and husband Jonathan Brock of Ann Arbor, Zen Lapham of Flushing; and sister, Cynthia Schultz of Simsbury, CT. |
