Donald E. Nieman, age 70 of Flushing, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. He was born on July 1, 1948 in Flint to parents Elmer and Clara (Davis) Nieman. Donald proudly served in Vietnam in the US Army. His patriotism followed him throughout his life as he was a member of the Clio VFW Post 1452 where he served as commander three times, Clio American Legion Post 158, Vietnam Vets of America, and he was very instrumental in getting the Clio Veterans Park built. He and his wife Carolyn owned their own t-shirt business, Welcome Home Vets, for ten years. He was also a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association – Good News Riders. He retired from Saginaw Steering Gear after many years and then drove school bus for Clio schools. Donald loved his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Donald is survived by his wife of 27 years, Carolyn Nieman; children: Jennifer Nieman, David (Andrea) Cheadle, Michael (Jessica) Cheadle; grandchildren: Aiden Nieman, Andrew Cheadle, Ethan Cheadle, Tyler Cheadle, Alex Mark, Kelsey Mark; great grandchildren: Carter and Abbey; siblings: Carol (Paul) Richmond, Sue (Mike) Brannam, Karen Nieman. He was preceded in death by both parents and an infant child. A funeral service will take place at 11am on Monday, August 6, 2018 at Trinity Assembly of God, 4363 W. Mt. Morris Rd., Mt. Morris. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 1-8pm at Reigle Funeral home, 5501 W. Pierson Rd., Flushing, and again on Monday at church, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10am.
