Dorothy was born in Flint, MI on November 21, 1931, daughter of the late Kenneth and Nettie (Dragoo) Tambling. On May 14, 1948, she married Bernard T. Grablick and together they raised three children of whom they cherished. For 33 years, Dorothy served at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint, MI, working as a nurse aide with compassion and dignity. Her care for others did not end with retirement. She continued to give of herself for another decade at the McFarlan Home in Flint as a kitchen aide and cook. Whether tending to patients, preparing meals, or saying a prayer, Dorothy’s work was always an extension of her heart. She was a devoted mother and homemaker with many talents. She became especially famous among family and friends for her homemade turtle candy, a sweet treat that—like Dorothy herself—brought delight to many. Her love of Israel was one of the defining passions of her life. Between 1984 and 2015, she traveled to Israel all of 27 times, drawing strength and purpose from the land and its people. She even dedicated a full year of service to the St. Louis Hospital in Jerusalem, offering her help in exchange for simple bread and board—an act that reflected her humble spirit and unwavering commitment to service. Above all, Dorothy will be remembered for her generosity. She gave freely of her time, her resources, and her heart, always seeking to lighten the burdens of others. Her life was a testament to kindness, faith, and perseverance. Dorothy’s presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy endures in the countless lives she touched and the love she so freely gave.
Dorothy is survived by 2 children, Jeff (Brenda) Grablick and Judy Almasy; 4 grandchildren, Jason Almasy, Adam (Sarah) Grablick, Ryan (Estella) Grablick and Stephanie (Austin) Simpson; 7 great-grandchildren, Louella, Charlotte, Conrad, Anna, Audrey, Oliver and Nathaniel; sister-in-law, Darlene Tambling; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Nettie Tambling; son, Joseph M. Grablick; 4 siblings, Russell (Jaunetia) Tambling, Marion (William) Foley, Maurice Tambling and Robert Tambling.
