HINKLEY, Tommy D. – Of Swartz Creek, age 65, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 26, 2014, peacefully with his family by his side at Karmanos Cancer Institute.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road Pastor Anthony Artis officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #3243 Honor Guard.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 12 p.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Those desiring may make contributions to the family to set up a bone marrow fund in his honor.
Tommy was born in Flint, Michigan on July 13, 1948, son of the late Milford Hinkley and Gerald and Nellie (Dykes) Mancour.
He served his country in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Hinkley was employed by GM for 38 years, retiring in 2005 and was a member of UAW Local #599.
He married the love of his life, Linda Downie on June 25, 1970 in Flint and they shared 44 wonderful years together.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather to wife, Linda;
three children, Tom (Brandy),
Tina Hinkley and
Tamara Morrison;
six grandchildren, Kara (Zac) Rudolph, Madison, Riley, Macie, Tristan and Seth.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Karmanos Cancer Institute, his BMT family and ICU and the Harper Hospital ICU.
