Anthony, Robert of Flushing, age 71, died Monday, September 22, 2014, at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2014, at Mayfair Bible Church. Pastor Dean Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday and 12-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the church. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries.
Robert was born in Flint, Michigan on November 23, 1942, the son of Gordon and Elma (Jennings) Anthony. Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a third generation florist, owning and operating Gordon Anthony Florist which was sold in 2001. After a ten year friendship, he married Brenda Lawson on August 1, 2012. Robert was active in the Flint Rotary Club and the Flint U of M Alumni Association. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing. Robert loved reading and playing cards, especially Euchre. He was a member of Mayfair Bible Church and the First Presbyterian Singles Group. Robert was a loving husband, brother, uncle, second father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; brothers, Dr. Dick Anthony, PhD and Louise Barrie, Joseph and Nancy Anthony; sister, Susie and Larry Ridge; beloved step-children, Nick and Lauren Robbins, Brandon and Kate Lawson, Brent and Missy Lawson; grandchildren, Kennedy, Carter, Brycen, Drake, Kayleigh; nephews, Steven (Katie Flynn) Barrie-Anthony; Joe (Kelly Taube) Anthony, Greg (Lynn) Anthony, Chris (Willie Alzamora) Anthony, Kirk (Michelle) Ridge, Brent (Tricia MacKenzie) Ridge; several great-nieces and nephews; previous wife of 26 years, Carole Wright-Anthony and many loving friends and family. Robert was preceded in death by his parents. |
