Cecelia Beth (Nelson) Pirochta, age 99, of Owosso, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Fr. Michael Kuchar officiating. Cecelia will be laid to rest at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m.

Cecelia was born on June 8, 1927, in Owosso, the daughter of Percy and Hazel (Crandall) Nelson. She graduated from Owosso High School with the class of 1945.

Cecelia was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she had been an active member since 1948. She was also a proud retiree and member of UAW Local 581. She worked at Universal Electric for more than 12 years.

On February 7, 1948, Cecelia married the love of her life, Stanley Pirochta, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owosso. They shared 66 years of marriage before his passing.

Cecelia treasured her family above all else, especially the time she spent with her boys. She loved playing cards and enjoyed the simple pleasures of time spent with those she loved. A lifelong Detroit Tigers fan, she later became a devoted Red Wings fan as well.

Cecelia is survived by her sons, Thomas (Lynnette) Pirochta, Larry (Terri) Pirochta, and Kevin Pirochta; son-in-law, Gordon Elliott; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley Pirochta; daughters, Linda and Judy; and her parents, Percy and Hazel Nelson.

Cecelia will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her love, laughter, and devotion to her family will remain in their hearts forever.
