SMITH, Verba “Jean” - Of Swartz Creek, age 95, died Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Courtyard Manor in Swartz Creek.
Funeral service will be held 2pm Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Kurt Bodem officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Visitation 11am Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Verba Jean was born in Parma, Missouri on February 4, 1923, the daughter of the late Clarence and Esther Groaning. On September 7, 1950, she married Roy Smith in Dexter, Missouri.
Surviving are sisters-in-law, Erma Groaning and Beverly Sue Groaning;
great-niece, Kim Reynolds;
great-nephew, Terry Hoggard;
extended family, Earlynn Frye, Wayne Anderson, Keith Frye, Matt (Sonia) Frye, Adam Frye, Tara Anderson, David Anderson and the family of Ben Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Smith, parents, Clarence and Esther Groaning, brothers, David Groaning and Ebben Groaning, sister, Wanda DeTie, nephew, Wayne DeTie, niece, Janet Wills, extended family Ben Anderson and Ron Frye.
