Passed away on July 1, 2014 at Covenant Healthcare at the age of 75 years.
The daughter of the late Rev. H. Leonard and Louise (Armitage) Kemp was born on January 12, 1939 in Flint, MI. She worked from the Saginaw County Mental Health retired from for Catholic Family Services. She then volunteered as a hospice social worker for Covenant VNA. Joan was ordained as an Episcopal Deacon on February 21, 2004; she served as a deacon for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Surviving are her brother, Ed Kemp, an “adoptive” daughter Laurie Rubier, close friend, Marcia Sorensen and many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a sister Janice Kemp, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Kemp.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 720 Tuscola. The Rt. Rev. Todd Ousley, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Eastern Michigan will officiate with burial at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flint, MI. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday at W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice.
