Arlyss was born August 8, 1922 on the family farm in rural Scott County to Grover & Norma (Kroeger) Zabel. He was united in marriage to Vernona Heuer on February 19, 1949 in Davenport, IA. Arlyss was born, raised, and worked his entire life on the family farm having helped with this year’s harvest.
He was a member of the Knights of Phythias, the Farm Bureau, the Davenport Moose Club, and several card clubs. Arlyss had a strong love for his family and they will miss him deeply.
Survivors include his wife Vernona Zabel, Davenport; son Myron (Cindy) Zabel, Eldridge, IA; 2 daughters Janice (Jeff) Lambrecht, Silvis, IL, and Joyce (John) Kemp, Eldridge, IA; and 4 grandsons Daniel & Steven Kemp, Bryan & Loren Zabel.
Arlyss was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.
