Bill was born on November 26, 1944, the only child of William and Grace Clancy of Port Byron, NY. He was baptized into the Catholic faith and its teachings guided his life. In search of opportunities, Bill left New York to attend Central Michigan University earning multiple degrees, including a Masters degree. It was there in Mount Pleasant where he first saw the woman he instantly knew he’d marry - his beloved Jeanne. They married on April 11, 1969, and the two proved to be a great team who built a wonderful life together.

Bill’s greatest accomplishment was his family. Jeanne and his three beautiful girls - Jennifer, Tiffany, and Erin - were the loves of his life. As Bill’s family grew, so did his love for each addition - his three sons-in-law, nine grandchildren, and two great grandsons. Though Bill was an only child, he had many “brothers” - his brothers-in-law, the Part-Time Adults, the KOOKs, the Bones - and many friends-like-family.

Bill was known for his trustworthiness, dedication and integrity. For ten years he taught math and coached football and track for Davison Community Schools. A real estate broker for over forty years, he built a solid reputation, regularly earning repeat business. As office manager, his team relied on his good counsel, insightfulness and leadership. Bill was skilled at finding the win-win, even when it meant taking on extra effort himself.

Bill’s humility concealed numerous accomplishments and contributions to his community. He was always looking to lend a hand to others without expectation or reciprocity. Bill had an overwhelming ability to forgive and to bear the wrongs of others without bitterness or reprisal.

Bill enjoyed a variety of hobbies - sports, fishing, boating, reading, motorcycling and music. He was a talented percussionist with a lovely tenor voice. He appreciated good food and had an insatiable sweet tooth. Bill cherished vacation time with family and friends and watching sunsets over “Papa’s Lake.” In recent years, Bill bore multiple illnesses with the same quiet strength and grace as he tackled all other obstacles in his life. His life made a lasting impact on many people and he will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne; daughters: Jennifer (Paul) Allen, Tiffany (Phillip) Hopper and Erin (Hank) Clancy; grandchildren: Clancy (Halle) Hopper, Whitman Hopper, Cash King, Meara King, Abbey Messing, Morgann King, Ellery Allen and Rush Allen; great grandsons: Cal and Henry Hopper; godchildren: Jamie Lochen and Nickolas Breidenstein; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by both parents.
