Richard Wayne Dunning, Jr., 69 of Flushing, Michigan died Sunday, October 6, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with dementia. Rick Dunning, Jr. was born July 20, 1950 in Flint, Michigan to Virginia (Bubin) and Richard W. Dunning, Sr. He attended Flushing High School and went on to work at the McNally GM Dealership's Parts Department in Flushing, MI for 21 years and then worked another 23 years as a United States Postal Service Letter Carrier in Bay City, MI. Rick was a local athlete and enjoyed blooper ball, softball, and bowling with his family and friends. He was an accomplished musician and played guitar and piano. He participated in many a family sing-a-long for the holidays or any event that came along. He is survived by his wife Eileen of 49 years; his son Rick (Amy) Dunning, III; his daughter Shelly (Greg) Nicolai; mother Virginia (Frances) Bubin; step-mother Arlene Dunning; brother Douglas Dunning; sister Denise (David) Mier; grandchildren Juliana, Evan, and Madeline Dunning; many other beloved family members, nephews, aunts, cousins, and in-laws as well as his dearly loved cockapoos Butch and Eddie. Special thanks are given to Rick's hospice nurse Janis and caregiver Nakita for helping make his final days comfortable. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard W. Dunning, Sr. in January 2019. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be planned for the spring. Arrangements by the Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 W. Pierson Rd. Flushing, MI.
