Melvin F. Libby age 77 of Durand passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM for sharing of stories and military honors at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 501 N. Saginaw St., Durand, MI 48429.
Melvin Fredrick Libby was born on April 9, 1948 in Durand, MI a son of Clarence and Ida Mae (Gilmore) Libby. After graduating High School, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On March 12, 1993 he married Letta Harrison. Melvin enjoyed gardening, shooting pool, playing baseball, collecting antiques and spending time with his family. Prior to his retirement, he worked for IGA Supermarket for over 30 years.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Letta Libby; children, Travis Libby, Kelly Libby, Zachary Libby, Laura (Bob) Hendershot and Cindy Lafeldt; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Norman Libby and Joan Libby; and special cousin, Gail Adams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ida Mae Libby; son, William Lafeldt; and brother, Alfred Libby.
