Richard "Dick" Frederick Klatt (Tricky Dick)
Age 83 of New Lothrop passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owosso. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in New Lothrop. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Homes New Lothrop Chapel on Wednesday, May 30 from 2:00 to 8:00pm with a Rosary prayed at 7:00pm, and also at the church on Thursday from 10:00am until the service.
Richard was born on October 24, 1934 to Frederick W. and Elizabeth (Cramer) Klatt in Owosso. He attended Kirby School and Corunna Schools. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Dick married the love of his life, Stacy Kuchar, on May 10, 1958 at St. Joseph Church in Owosso; they celebrated 60 years of marriage this year.
Dick worked as a mechanic for most of his life. From 1958 to 1978, he worked for his father-in-law, John Kuchar. He then worked for Young's Olds Cadillac, formerly Wiley's. He owned his own business in New Lothrop, R & S Auto Repair, from 1990 to 2003. Dick also worked as a bus driver for 20 years.
During his life, Dick volunteered for the New Lothrop Fire Department. He was a member of the VFW and Lyons Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and picking hickory nuts for his wife's homemade nut crescents. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Dick is survived by his wife, Stacy Klatt; his children, Lori A. (Duane) Becker, Richard T. (Sunday) Klatt, William J. (Hope) Klatt, and Renee L. (Larry) Cole; his grandchildren, Jason Becker, Krystina Becker, Marty Klatt, Kimberly (Alex) Mason, Kevin (Kati) Klatt, Allie Cole, and Makayla Klatt; his great-grandchildren, AJ and Jonathon; his special niece, Shelley (Joe) Guild and family; his siblings, Robert (Connie) Klatt and Diane Jacobs; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Elizabeth Klatt; his parents-in-law, John and Stacy Kuchar; his brothers, Bill, Ted, and Ed Klatt; his sister, Betty Erno; and his brothers-in-law, Rodney Erno and Milford Jacobs.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alzheimer's Association, or Memorial Healthcare Hospice.
