Roberta was a proud member of the inaugural graduating class of Southwestern High School before continuing her education at the University of Michigan. A woman of remarkable dedication and community spirit, she was a lifelong member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, maintaining perfect attendance since 1960—an achievement that reflected her unwavering commitment and loyalty.
She was actively involved in many organizations, including the Elf Khurafeh Highlanders Ladies and the Forget Me Nots, and cherished the time she spent at monthly gatherings with her friends and sisters. Roberta’s heart for service was evident in her six years as a Girl Scout troop leader, her work assisting with elections in Flint and Davison, and her time as a substitute teacher. She also shared her love of travel through her work with two travel agencies and later worked in the money room for URGE Bingo.
Roberta played an important role in her community as Treasurer of the Davison Centennial Committee and Chair of the Time Capsule Committee, helping to preserve history for future generations—the capsule set to be opened in 2039. She also led the Human Flag Committee, organizing and selling shirts that brought the project to life.
An adventurous spirit, Roberta had a deep love for travel, enjoying countless cruises around the world and memorable land trips, including attending the 2010 Winter Olympics in Canada.
Above all, Roberta will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and aunt, whose warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Roberta is survived by her loving daughters Barbara (Shawn) Herzinger and Nancy Morse; sisters, Annette Cross and twin, Cynthia Mason; sister-in-law Vickee Balser; and nieces, Ethel Mason (Lee Reed) and Beverly Lloyd; great-niece, Maria Lloyd; nephews, Chuck, David, and Mike (Amy) Cross; and several great-nieces and nephews.
