Lucille Jones, a woman known for her generous heart, steady laughter, and love of simple
joys, passed away surrounded by the legacy of a life well lived. A Funeral Service will be held
at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 26, 2026 at O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Michigan.
Robert Kurth officiating. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, March 26, 2026
from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
Born to Howard and Lucille Benner, Lucille grew up in Michigan and graduated from Clio
High School in 1966, followed by the Michigan College of Beauty Culture that same year.
Shortly before graduation, she married the love of her life, Dennis Eugene Jones, on
December 18, 1965, at Bethany United Methodist Church in Clio, Michigan. Together, they
built a life rooted in family, friendship, and shared adventure.
Lucille spent many years as a self-employed hair stylist, a profession that perfectly suited
her social spirit and caring nature. She later devoted much of her time to community
involvement, serving as President of the Women’s Auxiliary at the Harrison VFW Post
#1075.
Over the years, Lucille made homes in Flushing and Lake, Michigan, before enjoying time in
Florida, including Ocala, Ormond Beach, and most recently Jacksonville. No matter where
she lived, she carried with her a love of people and a gift for making any place feel like
home.
She found joy in life’s quieter pleasures: crocheting, playing cards like pinochle and euchre,
and gathering with friends for weekly bingo. She loved to travel, especially cruises and
casino trips with her husband, and cherished time spent fishing at her lake house up north.
In her younger years, she was an active member of a bowling league.
Lucille’s kindness extended far beyond her immediate circle. She gave generously to
charitable causes and was always willing to lend a hand or a listening ear. Her warmth left a
lasting imprint on everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Rene’ Kurth and her husband Robert; her brothers Les
(Sandy) Benner, Roger Benner, and Randy Benner; and her brother-in-law Robert (Cindy)
Jones, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dennis Eugene Jones; her son, Gene
Eugene Jones; her parents, Howard and Lucille Benner; her brother, Howard Benner Jr.; and
her in-laws, Irene and Raymond Jones.
Lucille will also be deeply missed by her cherished cat, Pokey, who was a quiet companion
through her later years.
In keeping with her giving spirit, memorial contributions may be made to the Saginaw
Rescue Mission or a charity of your choice.
Her life was stitched together with kindness, laughter, and love, much like the crochet work
she enjoyed so dearly. Those who knew her carry those threads forward.
