Peggy graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1952. Peggy was employed at AC Sparkplug assembly plant in Flint for 37 years and was honored to be crowned as “Miss AC Sparkplug”, spending a fun-filled year as the company spokesmodel. Peggy was reliable and hardworking. Over the years she worked third shift at AC and was promoted to supervisor of the inspection department. Mrs. Harris lived many years on Drummond Island, where she was active in the Red Hat Society, Friends of Library, the Diggers Club (gardening) and the Moose Lodge Auxiliary #2381. As a member of the Moose Lodge, Peggy served in many capacities, made many dear friends and traveled the country to attend conventions. She also volunteered regularly to help with events at the Drummond Twp. Hall and was also a member of the Drummond Island Baptist Church.
Peggy raised her family in Davison, where she lived many many years. In Davison, she was very active in the VFW Post #4087 Auxiliary and the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA). While in the ABWA she often modeled for their annual fundraisers. Peggy also volunteered regularly for both organizations and of course made many dear friends. She basically made friends wherever she was, family said “Peggy never met a stranger and became friends with everyone she met!”. Peggy was always active, her interests included: bowling, snow shoeing, playing cards, playing dominos, walking, hiking, golfing, playing games and just spending time with family and friends. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends and all whose lives she touched.
Peggy is survived by her children: Dean (Hilde) Bonesteel of Harbor Springs, Diana Sprague of Columbiaville and Darla (David) Johnson of Grand Blanc; step-children: Ron (Yvette) Harris, Linda (Bryson) McQuiston of Jackson, TN and Mike (Teresa) Harris of Bath, MI; grandchildren: Tiffany, Ben, Jason, Candace, Amy, Erica, Travis, Taylor and Tristan; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
