BENES, Dorothy E. (Benaway) – passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 19, 2012 at Fostrian Manor. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Chaplin Steve Hittle will officiate. Burial to follow in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, 2020 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, March 26, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Dorothy was born July 22, 1915 in Grand Rapids, MI. She was one of three children born to Miner and Etta (Bailey) Benaway. She and Joseph Benes were united in marriage on October 1, 1938. Dorothy was employed at AC Spark Plug for a number of years. Left to cherish her memory are her nephews Dennis Benaway of Grand Blanc, MI, Gary (Karen) Benway of Otisville, MI best friend and sister-in-law Ilene Benaway of Grand Blanc, MI. Treasured great nieces and nephews; Melissa Ascencio of Flushing, MI, Kelly Benaway of Concord, New Hampshire, Kari (Michael) Mckissack of Temecula, CA, Dannette Young of Owosso, MI, Jason (Melissa) Benway of Grand Haven, MI, and Brent (Jenn) Benway of Mt. Pleasant, MI. She also leaves behind a number of great great nieces and nephews that she loved immensely. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Joe, brothers, Gerald and Wayne and nephew Bradley. Dorothy touched the lives of many people with her laughter, generosity and trademark sense of humor. She loved shopping, swimming, travelling to Florida, living on the water, laughing, being with her family and having fun with friends.
