MORRIS, Bonita “Bonnie” Louise (Alexander) – of Otisville, MI, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at her residence. A Funeral Service will be held 2 PM Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Flint Baptist Temple, 1430 East Bristol Road, Burton, MI 48529; Pastor Glenn Tatterson officiating. Interment in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-2 PM Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Flint Baptist Temple. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Bonnie was born in Flint, MI on November 3, 1947, daughter of the late L.D. and Delores (Etten) Alexander. She married Vernon Robert Morris on November 9, 1963 in Flint, MI and he preceded her in death on September 25, 2006. Bonnie was a member of Reformation Bible Church in Otisville, MI for decades. In the church, she was able to nurture her love for the Lord and the love for her congregation who became her second family. Bonnie was happiest when she was surrounded by those she loved. Many, many taco nights and impromptu family reunions were held at her house and she was quick to open her home to anyone who needed it. Bonnie loved bowling and watermelon, but not snakes (“Those stay in the garden, do not bring that snake in this house!”). She spent her time working at the Forest Township Senior Center and was a member of the Otisville Historical Society. Bonnie will be remembered as a woman who made the best rock candy at Christmas, always had an opinion and was maybe a little accident prone, but who loved hard and was loved by many.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Kimberley (Chad) Diamond; 7 grandchildren, Vernon Morris III, Shannon (Greg) Kelley, Angelique Underwood, Ashley (Ron) Davis, Kayla (Devon) Periard, Cole Diamond and Lacie Diamond; 10 great-grandchildren, Gregory Kelley, Christian Kelley, Kaylie Pugh, Peyton Davis, Audrey Davis, Jack Staley, Dorothy Merriman, Patrick Merriman Jr., Richard Merriman and Alexis Merriman; 5 siblings, Diana (Jimmy) Morris, Judy Leveque, Sheila (Ed) Bailiff, Tom Alexander and Randy (Tina) Alexander; sister-in-law, Melba Alexander; 3 bonus daughters, Annette Morris, Kim Harger and Rainee Piet; a slew of nieces and nephews that loved her; many other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, L.D. and Delores Alexander; husband of 42 years, Vernon Robert Morris; 2 sons, Robert Vernon Morris and Vernon Robert Morris Jr.; 2 brothers, Buzz Alexander and Fred Alexander; life-long friend, Beth Johnsen.
