JENKINS, Richard D. – Of Flint, age 75, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021 at his residence.
Visitation 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
A private funeral service will be held at the funeral home, Father Anthony Strouse officiating. Burial to follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors.
Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude’s.
Richard was born in Flint, Michigan on April 27, 1946, the son of the late Thomas and Phyllis (Blackburn) Jenkins. Richard proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a Radio Operator at the time of the Tet “General” Offensive of 1968. After his service, he went on to marry Pamela Paavola on January 30, 1970. Richard
was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He also was a parishioner and Usher at St. Pius X. Richard enjoyed boating and adored his dog, Sadie. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are wife, Pamela Jenkins;
daughters, Amy (Michael) Barnes and
Jennifer (Ronald) Guthrie;
grandchildren, Colby, Christian, and Chase Barnes,
Mason, Max, Molly and Madison Guthrie;
brother, Gerald Jenkins;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Phyllis Jenkins; brother, Thomas Jenkins and granddaughter, Mia Guthrie.
