On Tuesday, October 30, 2018 Marianne (Brushwiller) Funke passed peacefully. She was 78 years old. Funeral services will be 11am on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Trinity Episcopal Church. Visitation will be 10am Saturday until the time of service.
Marianne was born in October, 1940 in Flint Michigan to Chester and Violet (Seeney) Brushwiller.
She graduated from Flushing High School in 1958, earned her Teaching Degree in 1962 from Central Michigan University and her Masters of Education in 1967 from Wayne State University.
Marianne taught in Madison District Public Schools from 9/62-8/76. She married Jack Funke in 1976 and they moved to California where they managed Motel 6 for several years. They later moved to Nevada where she was employed in Las Vegas and Pahrump as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with the State of Nevada.
After the death of her husband in 2010 she moved back to the Flushing and emerged herself in many activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, son Joseph Chester, brother Franklin Robeson, sisters Margaret (Robeson) Pajtas and Marilyn (Brushwiller) Mendelson.
She is survived by her sister Donna and brother-in-law Franklin Jessop, step-children: Tom Funke & Valerie (Funke) Walsh; Nephews: Rick Jessop, James Mendelson, Dick & Michael Pajtas, Robert & John Robeson; Nieces: Deborah (Jessop) Josling, Bethany Jessop, Jane Mendelson, Susan (Mendelson) Toolan, Carol (Pajtas) Moore, Kathryn (Pajtas) Yaklin, Joanne (Pajtas) Buckley, Marjorie (Pajtas) White, Barbara (Pajtas) Conklin and step grandchildren.
Marianne enjoyed bowling, knitting, reading with a good glass of wine and taking care of her two cats. She volunteered at Flushing Library and was deeply involved at Trinity Episcopal Church.
