GREW, Ralph – of Birch Run, age 86, died peacefully Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Cranberry Park of Clio. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held 1PM Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 10AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Clio Eagles 3609.
Ralph was born August 6, 1937, in Birch Run, to the late Raymond and Louise (Froats) Groulx. He attended Birch Run Community Schools and received his high school diploma from Arthur Hill High School in 1955. Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He was a truck driver at Ogden and Moffett Trucking Company for many years and the owner-operator and truck driver of Central Transport in Romulus, Michigan until his retirement in 1995. On February 8, 1969, Ralph married his best friend, Sandra Fijolek, and together they shared 36 years of marriage. Sandra preceded him in death on July 31, 2005. He was a member of the Birch Run American Legion, Clio Eagles 3609, and was a former member of the Birch Run Moose Lodge 2426. Ralph liked antique cars and watching car auctions on TV. During his younger years he owned many trucks and cars that he would detail, drive for a while, then trade for the next. He was a human map who always knew the best route to save money and time for your upcoming travels and he loved to go camping. During the winter months he spent much of his time traveling to Arizona or Florida. Ralph was a very opinionated and stubborn man but had the gentlest, kindest heart. He knew no stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. Ralph was a wonderful man who will be dearly missed.
Ralph is forever remembered by his children: Elizabeth (James) Rzepka and Randy (Kathy) Grew; Grandchildren: Ryan, Zachary (Andrea), and Audretta; Great grandchildren: Ella, Ethan, Macie, and Dean; Sisters: Veraline Matzke and Bethany Chevrette; Many extended family members and beloved friends. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Grew; Parents, Raymond and Louise; Sister, Rosemary Pataky; Beloved fur friend, Mitsy.
