David Eugene Wilder, age 80, of Owosso, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 3,2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Saginaw, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 15, 1944, in Middletown, OH David was the son of Hobert and Dorothy (Peck) Wilder. He graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1963 and proudly served in the United States Air Force.

David was a hardworking man who held various positions throughout his life, including at the St. Charles boat factory, Johnson Controls, and Cartridges R Us. He was also known for his entrepreneurial spirit in making and selling rocking horses and doing upholstery work on vintage cars.

David married the love of his life, Lavonna (Cox) Wilder, in 1982. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Lavonna Wilder of Owosso; his children Steven Wilder of Owosso, Michelle (Carl) Hyzer of St. Johns, Karyn Wilder of Crystal, and Kristy (Jeremy) Charvat of Ovid; grandchildren Alicia Cooper, Anthony Cooper, Cale Hyzer, Jared Hyzer, Logan (Myla) Hyzer, Hunter (Ruth) Charvat, Kiahla (Hunter) Charvat, and Hazel Charvat; and great-grandson Jude Hyzer. David is also survived by his siblings: John (Carole) Wilder of Florida, Roger (Suzy) Wilder of Greensburg, Indiana, Genida White of Greensburg, Edith Smith of Greensburg, Jean (David) Graue of Greensburg, and Mary (Mike) Burchfield of Westport, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Diane (Bell) Wilder; and his brothers Larry Wilder and Robert Wilder.

David will be remembered for his fierce independence, his love for travel, his gift for storytelling, his love for going to the casino, and his uncanny knack for finding four-leaf clovers. He never met a stranger and cherished his morning breakfast with friends. A skilled woodworker and proud Mustang enthusiast, David lived life with passion and authenticity.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Nelson-House Funeral Home at 120 E. Mason St., Owosso, MI. There will be a time to visit with the family on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family asks that you honor David’s memory by sharing a story, wearing your favorite western wear, or simply enjoying a good breakfast with friends.
