Sharon Kay Parker, age 81, of Owosso, passed away peacefully at her home on September 21, 2026. She was born on March 26, 1945, in Owosso, the daughter of the late Francis LeRoy Dennis and Georgetta Mae Howard. Sharon lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and the many children and loved ones whose lives she touched with her kindness and warmth.
Sharon attended Owosso Schools and remained deeply connected to the community where she was raised and where she spent her life. She was a devout Christian whose faith guided the way she lived each day. Those who knew Sharon will remember her as a loving, faith-filled, and kind woman who welcomed others with a generous spirit and a sincere heart. She was known for being very hospitable, and her home was often a place where family and friends felt comfortable, cared for, and appreciated.
A devoted caregiver by nature, Sharon owned and operated her own daycare and cared for children for more than 35 years. Her work was not simply a profession, but a calling that reflected her natural affection for children and her patient, nurturing way. Over the years, countless families entrusted their little ones to her care, and Sharon gave each child the same steady attention, compassion, and encouragement. Her influence reached far beyond the years she spent in her daycare, as many children and parents alike carried fond memories of her gentle guidance and dependable presence.
Sharon found great joy in the simple and meaningful pleasures of life. She loved family gatherings and treasured the time spent with those closest to her. She enjoyed collecting antiques and had an appreciation for the memories and stories connected to cherished pieces from the past. She also liked to play cards and enjoyed the fellowship and laughter that came with those moments. Above all, Sharon loved her family and friends deeply, and she made it known through her actions, her words, and the care she gave so freely.
She is survived by her loving companion, Dave Thornton; her children, Kim (Grant) Haller, Rod (Sandy) Parker, Angie (Scott) Newman and Justin (Rae) Parker; her grandchildren, Addyson (Justin) Cross, Dylan Parker, Tyler Parker, Noah Parker, Jacob Newman, Jesse (Andrea) Newman, Preston Parker, Ethan Parker, and Olivia Parker; and her great-grandchildren, Tate, Huck, Rhett, Beau, Boston, Rowan, Sophia, Osbourne, Nixon, and George. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry (Georgia) Dennis; her sister-in-law, Connie Dennis; and her sister, Michelle (Dale) Louchart.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, George Parker; her brother, Dan Dennis; and her infant sister. Though her family feels the sorrow of her passing deeply, they take comfort in the many years of memories they shared and in the lasting example of love and faith she leaves behind.
Sharon will be remembered for her steadfast love, her kind heart, and the grace with which she lived her life. She leaves behind a family who adored her, friends who valued her, and a community that was enriched by her presence.
