HOKANSON, Alvin “Cliff” - Of Flint, age 91, died Monday, September 1, 2025, at Henry Ford Genesys.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held by family at a later date. Per Cliff’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
Cliff was born in Warroad, Minnesota on February 10, 1934. He was the son of the late Martin and Naomi (Weitemier) Hokanson. Cliff grew up on a farm, he had also served in the Army. He married Marcia Jolly in 1964. He worked for General Motors, and retired with 43 years of service in 1997. He earned the nickname “Big Hokey” from his former coworkers, that he kept in touch with through the years. He acquired the hobby of flying private aircraft in 1979, also he was a member of the AOPA and EAA. He enjoyed sharing his hobby with his friend Rick Clemmons, as well as many family members. Especially his late wife, Marcia and his beloved grandchildren. He loved to feed and watch the wildlife in his backyard. He loved to tinker in his shop, and knew exactly where everything was, also did custom welding for friends and family. He never met a cup of coffee he didn’t like. He found pleasure in watching old westerns and the series Landman and Yellowstone. He also enjoyed listening to old country music as well as opera. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was an amazing mentor to many, a loving father, grandfather, and husband. He enjoyed the company of his kids friends throughout the years, they adored him far into their adulthood. His kindness and generosity had no boundaries, his door was always open. He never made anyone feel unwelcome. He also loved going to volleyball games that his daughter coached in recent years. His sons also inherited his love for motorcycles.
Surviving are his children Steven, Roger (Cindi), Tracy (John) Robert
Grandchildren, Coty (Cindy), Austin (Jenna), Gabrielle
Great Grandchildren, Maddalynn, Liam and one on the way
Siblings, Esther Miley and Marlin Hokanson
As well as many nieces and nephews.
His flying partner and best friend, Rick Clemmons.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia, his Parents Martin and Naomi, perspective daughter in-law Connie.
