Leonard Fischer, age 97, of Gladwin, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on September 10, 2026. He was born in 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Frank and Bernice Fischer. Leonard lived a long and meaningful life marked by faith, devotion, and quiet strength. He was a man who valued hard work, family, and the simple blessings of each day. Those who knew him will remember him as faith-filled, creative, and loving, with a gentle spirit and a steady presence that brought comfort to those around him. On March 25, 1948, Leonard married the love of his life, Lila Mae Ewald, in Gladwin. Together they shared 70 years of marriage and built a life centered on love, family, and commitment. Lila Mae preceded him in death on July 4, 2018. Their marriage was a lasting example of devotion and partnership, and the memories they created together will remain treasured by their family forever. Leonard was a devoted father and grandfather who took great pride in his family. He is survived by his children, Mary Davis, Alice (Clay) Buck, Beth (Joe) Herrmann and Arthur (Beth) Fischer. He was preceded in death by his son, Arthur Fischer. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren who brought joy to his life and who will carry forward the legacy of his kindness, wisdom, and love. Family was always at the center of Leonard’s heart, and he found great happiness in the lives and accomplishments of those he loved. He was preceded in death by his sister Juanita Bruni and a granddaughter Michelle LaFerriere. Leonard shared a lifetime of memories with his family, and the bonds he formed with them were a source of strength throughout his life. Leonard retired from GM Fisher Plant 1, where he worked as a welder. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and skill. His years of service reflected the same dedication and integrity that he carried into every part of his life. He took pride in honest work and in doing his best each day. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed helping anyone who needed help. Leonard was a member of Oak Grove Log Church, where his faith remained an important part of his life. His church family and his belief in God were meaningful to him, and his life reflected the values he held dear. He lived with a spirit of gratitude and humility, and his faith guided him through both joyful and difficult times. Those who knew Leonard will remember his creative nature and the warmth he brought into every room. He had a way of making others feel welcome and valued, and his loving personality left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know him. His life was a testament to perseverance, devotion, and the enduring power of family and faith. Leonard Fischer will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were blessed to share in his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy of faith, love, and hard work will continue to inspire those who follow. |
