Thomas, Jeanne Francine of Clio, age 67, formerly of Flushing and Sterling Heights, died Monday, August 25, 2014, at McLaren-Flint. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014, at Flushing United Methodist Church. Rev. Jeanne Wisenbaugh will officiate. The family will receive friends 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Private interment of cremated remains will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the American Cancer Society.
Jeanne was born in Flint, Michigan on February 5, 1947, the daughter of James Franklin and Helen (O'Kazius) Perkins. She married James Roland Thomas on June 5, 1971, at the Third Ave. Baptist Church in Flint. Jeanne graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1965, and received an Associates degree in Education in 1967, from Flint Junior College where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
Jeanne was involved in many organizations, including, the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia, Cornish Connection of Lower Michigan, Cornish American Heritage Society, Michigan Genealogical Council, Pennington Research Association, and the Flint Genealogical Society. She was a member of the Flushing United Methodist Church. Jeanne enjoyed doing genealogy, reading and knitting and crocheting and had an extensive collection of panda bears.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, James, of Clio; children, Scott Matthew and wife Laurie Michelle (Brubaker) Thomas of Fort Wayne, IN, Karen Marie and husband Jason Michael Manley of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Robert James Thomas, George Henry Thomas, Charles Lee Thomas, all of Fort Wayne, IN. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents. |
