DREFFS, Harry M. – of Clio, age 98, died Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Gross Assisted Living of Clio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church, 230 E. Vienna St., in Clio. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Coughlin officiating. The family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Wednesday from 2PM until 8PM and at the church on Thursday from 10AM until the time of Mass at 11AM. Burial will be 12PM Friday, September 14, 2018 in Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd., in Augusta, with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church, the Knight of Columbus, or the Humane Society of Genesee County.

Harry was born September 21, 1919 in Gaylord, Michigan to the late Martin and Anna (Sokolowski) Dreffs. He married Norrene O’Flaherty on November 27, 1948. She preceded him in death February 18, 2002. Mr. Dreffs is a U.S. Army WWII Veteran. He retired from Metlife Insurance Company in 1981 after 23 years of service. Harry was a member of Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church, the American Legion Neeley Labar Post #158 of Clio, and the Gordon R. Bennett VFW Post #1452 of Clio. He enjoyed going to the Clio Senior Center, gardening, bird watching, and traveling. Harry also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and anything MSU. He loved watching old westerns and was quite the jokester. Harry had a wonderful sense of humor, especially when it came to Polish jokes. Above all, Harry loved spending time with his granddaughter and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Surviving are: Daughter, Julie Anderson; Granddaughter, Emily (Dave) Desrochers; Great grandchildren: Drew and Elle Desrochers; Sister, Magdalene “Peggy” Zimbicki; Favorite pretend daughters: Angie Reynolds and Mary Swedorski. Harry was also preceded in death by his son in law, Dennis Anderson; Sisters: Dorothy and Virginia Kwapis; Brothers in law: Joseph and Peter Kwapis, and Lewis Zimbicki; Brother in law and sister in law, Dr. Herbert and Jean Hamel.
