HENDERSON-MILAM, NOVELEAN- Swartz Creek age 94, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at McLaren Hospital.
Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Pastor Nate Brown and Pastor Aaron Whitman officiating.
Visitation will be held from 3-8pm on Thursday, August 27, 2026, and 11am Friday until the time of service at the funeral home.
Entombment in Crestwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to help fund her great-grandchildren’s traveling music ministry.
Novelean was born on April 8, 1932, in Big Flat, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Noah Frank and Charlottie Politte.
She married Thomas Henderson in 1948, and he preceded her in death in 2001. In 2019 Novelean married Edward Milam and he survives her.
Novelean was a very active member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and played piano for various singing groups.
She taught music, piano and voice in the Flint area for many years. She loved to can fruits and vegetables from her garden, reading her bible, playing the piano and listening to good gospel music.
Later in life she joined Cornerstone Baptist Church and was an active member prior to Covid. Since Covid she has watched Sunday service faithfully from her home.
SURVIVING ARE HER
Husband, Edward;
Daughter - Debora and husband John Henry Denner III of Davison
Grandson - John Henry Denner IV and wife Katie of North Street, Michigan
Great-grandchildren- Brynlee, Alayna and Piper.
Many nieces, nephews and cousins
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas Lavelle Henderson, 5 sisters and 5 brothers.
